Environmental Assessment

An environmental assessment was prepared under the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) and submitted to the Department of Planning to assess the potential environmental, social and economic benefits and impacts of the project.

The environmental assessment was placed on public exhibition and the public and government agencies were invited to make submissions.

A range of studies were undertaken including the possible impact on:

• traffic and transport
• flora and fauna
• noise and vibration levels
• waste management services
• water quality
• hazards and risk.
• the community

 

Remnant bushland next to Taylor Street in Fairfield will be protected

Prior to construction, a construction environmental management plan was developed for the plant and the network. This plan detailed how the impacts of construction activities on residents, businesses and other stakeholders will be minimised. This plan has been approved by the NSW Department of Planning.
